Description
Agelastica Alni - for a beetle called Agelastica Alni, several different names have been used, such as Adimonia Violacea, Chrysomela Alni or Cryptocephalus Violaceus.
The original area of expansion is in Europe, the Caucasus, Siberia and northeastern Kazakhstan. In the 19th century he was brought to the USA.
Adults are tiny, 6-8 mm large round beetles. They are black and blue with a purple luster. The larvae are 12 mm large caterpillars, black color.
Adult beetles put on the underside of egg leaves in May. Young larvae hatch in two weeks. But the larvae often stay together, in groups. They spawn in bulk areas in the lower skin of the leaves. Later they are scattered over sheets that skeleton or punch. Doric larvae curl in the soil. In August, adults are hatched
