Artist's Description
Pigeon is not a newcomer on the planet. His first written records date back to the 3000 years before Christ, from the territory around today's Iraq. Then, of course, there is a legend about Noah, who was getting messages from the dove.
Although it does not look like this today, but in the past pigeon dung was a very valuable item. From the 16th to the 18th century it was used as a fertilizer and its efficiency was much higher than the effect of horse manure. The Pigeon Pigeon was even so valued that there were armed guards in front of the pigeons that protected the pigeons.
The cloth, which is a necessary raw material for the production of gunpowder, has been gained in the past with the pigeon dung. In the Middle East it was forbidden to eat pigeon meat. All pigeons were reared only for crops that were fertilized. Among others it was hemp.
