Description
The Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata) originates from Central and South America, but today it is found worldwide, often as feral populations descended from the domesticated form (Cairina moschata domestica). Unlike the wild Muscovy, which has predominantly dark, iridescent plumage with white wing patches, domesticated birds display a wide variety of colors — from pure white to mottled or black-and-white. Both forms share the distinctive red facial caruncles around the beak and eyes, often more pronounced in domestic individuals. This portrait captures a feral Muscovy duck in the wild, showcasing its unique character and striking details.
